I have long held the belief that my writing wasn’t the kind of thing that wins, or even gets close, to winning writing competitions. I don’t know why. Maybe I just don’t have a great deal of self-belief, but whatever. I am very, very pleased to announce that my flash fiction piece ‘Cyanophobia’ has been shortlisted in the 2011 Spilling Ink Review Fiction competition. I didn’t for a moment expect this at all, so to get to this stage is absolutely brilliant. This means that my story will appear in the annual print anthology, which will be published later this year. Yes, that means my writing will be in an actual BOOK. Howzat?!
